San Antonio Fiesta History

With Fiesta 2017 coming to an end, we thought it would be nice to share a little history on why we celebrate, and how this amazing event came to be.  Most of you may know this, but still fun to share!

After a 13-day siege in February of 1836, the Alamo fell to Santa Ana’s army.  One month later, on April 21st General Sam Houston led the Texas Army to defeat Santa Ana at the Battle of San Jacinto.  55 years later, a wave of Texas patriotism led to women holding a parade with decorated carriages, throwing flowers in front of the Alamo.  This small parade that was held to honor fallen solders became the Battle of Flowers Parade.  This all evolved into multiple events all circulating around April 21st, and is now what we know as Fiesta.

Another great Fiesta in the books. We can’t wait until next year!!
